Originally the stables of Cairnsmore Estate, Stable Cottage is a 150 year old, traditional, whitewashed stone building that immediately gives that “getting away from it all” feeling. Located within a courtyard which is on the private Cairnsmore Rural Estate, it is a walker's and explorer's paradise. Based only a mile from the Kirroughtree Visitors Centre, which is the gateway to the Galloway Forest Park and in close proximity to the 7 Stanes - which are internationally acclaimed mountain bike ranges to suit all abilities.

As you enter Stable Cottage, the hallway offers a storage area for boots and coats and also all the information you will need for your stay. To your right is the bright and cosy kitchen diner, which is fully equipped with cooker, washing machine, microwave oven, fridge etc. There is a traditional pulley on which to warm and dry your clothes.

Beyond the kitchen is the bright and light lounge which houses an open fire, with logs and two comfortable sofas. For your pleasure are also a TV, CD player, games and books. Here you have a warm, peaceful and comfortable room within which to relax after a day full of exploration, activity and pleasure.

There are two bedrooms in Stable Cottage – the master bedroom overlooks the back garden where elusive red squirrels can often be spotted. An extremely comfortable double Sleigh bed with matching furniture adds to the feeling of tranquillity and peacefulness that Stable Cottage can offer you.
The second bedroom has two comfortable, single beds and also overlooks the back garden area.
The Stable Cottage bathroom has a bath, shower, sink and toilet.
In the privacy of the sunny, sheltered, south facing back garden you can enjoy the use of a paved patio area with barbeque, picnic table and garden furniture.
Stable Cottage has been decorated and furnished with your comfort in mind.
